A Memorable Valentine’s Day

Last year’s Valentine’s Day was one memorable occasion, for my business at least. I started my little grocery early that year. With all the expenses that go with opening up a business, my finances really went down to the point where I even asked myself if opening up a store is a good idea.

I was very much worried if people would even know that my business exists in our place. I really need to see some sign that people would go to my store and buy something. My biggest concern was that all my hard work and resources would go to nothing.

A couple of weeks went by, and I was becoming more desperate than ever. I hardly see people go to my store. There I decided to ask some business advice from my mom. She told me that I should not expect that people will instantly know of my business. She said that it takes time.

I decided not to just sit down and wait for buyers. I bought some cheap promotional magnets (just like the ones I often see on a refrigerator) and pasted my store logo and address.

The following day was Valentine’s Day. I walked for around an hour giving away my promotional custom magnets. Most of the people I met were dating, but I didn’t really care.

After just a couple of days, my store sales started to pick up. For the first time, there was a line in front of my counter. What a relief. Those promotional logo magnets given on Valentine’s Day really made a lot of difference. Those cheap items really made that day memorable for me.
